Feb 14, 2024 – As an annual tradition, during Tet Holidays (Lunar New Year), VNHelp staff in Vietnam bring “lucky money” to the children at the orphanages we support. This tradition always creates the special moment and brings much joys to the kids. This post contains photos from Thien An Orphanage in Can Tho, where live 52 orphans. Some of the kids received extra lucky money from their sponsors. More reports are coming soon from other orphanages.

Feb 5, 2024 – In the days approaching Year of the Dragon, VNHelp went to inspect a project in Kien Giang province which assists low-income farmer households in Ngoc Thanh and Ngoc Thuan communes, Giong Rieng district.
VNHelp began to support 30 poor farmer households in March 2023. Each household was given 2 female pigs for breeding. The project was successful beyond expectation. During the first harvest, each breeding pig gave birth to 13, 14, or 16 piglets. Farmers are very happy because of the excellent return of investment!
This model has created jobs and helped improve income for farmers. We would like to invite you to donate to this project so that we will have the needed fund to expand it to help more farmers.

Bicycle Distribution Program

September 2023 – For children in remote villages, a bicycle is a cherished dream. As students progress to higher grades, the distance between their homes and schools only increases. Despite facing difficult circumstances, some children have to walk 2 kilometers, while others may need to cover up to 10 kilometers to reach their schools. These children dream of having a bicycle to make their journey easier.

In the three districts of Phong Điền, Nam Đông, and A Lưới in Thừa Thiên Huế Province, on the 19th, 20th, and 21st of September 2023, there were 110 students proudly holding 110 bicycles. It is a joyful and heartwarming sight that the VNHELP organization and the sponsor C & T Produce Wholesale in Houston, TX, have created.

Quán Nước Không Đồng ($0 Drink)
June 11, 2023 – Quán Nước Không Đồng ($0 Drink) was recently opened in Minh Son commune, Trieu Son district, Thanh Hoa province as the idea of VNHELP staff members in Vietnam. Upon receiving a water filtration machine donated by the Rotary Club of San Jose, employees of Thanh Hoa Water Supply Joint Stock Company contributed materials for roofing, painter Hoang Tuan Can donated two lacquer paintings for decoration, and farmers contributed their labor to construct the building; together they built Quán Nước (water station) where pure drinking water is provided free of charge to farmers. This is why it’s called Quán Nước “Không Đồng,” where the latter part means zero dollars.
Last year, VNHELP donated harvesters and rice transplanters, which effectively helps the farmers in their work. Recently, the weather in Thanh Hoa is hotter than usual. The temperature is at 44.1 degrees Celsius in some areas. Quan Nuoc Khong Dong is a place where hardworking farmers can sit down to rest, drink a glass of cool water, and snack on sweet potatoes or corn after hours of labor. Quan Nuoc Khong Dong has become a gathering place for farmers, where they chit chat and share stories about work and family. VNHELP hopes to open similar Quan Nuoc Khong Dong in other locations where VNHELP has projects to help farmers. We invite you to join us in our efforts.

October 3, 2023 – “The tooth and the hair are the root of a person”, Dentists with good hearts in Saigon partner with VNHELP in “Dental care for orphans” program, which encompassed various activities, such as providing free dental care to orphans and orphanage staff, offering guidance on oral hygiene, and ensuring they have a basic level of aesthetics for confidence.

August, 2023 – VNHelp has been and continues to make a positive impact by constructing projects to assist the impoverished in Vietnam. In August 2023, VNHelp proudly inaugurated two water filtration and distribution systems benefiting 192 households in the villages of Kho Muong hamlet and Bang hamlet, located in Thanh Son commune, Ba Thuoc district, Thanh Hoa province.
The project involved the construction of two stream-blocking dams, the installation of two water supply systems with a total length of 13,600 meters, and the successful delivery of clean water to the residents.
Water, an essential and indispensable element for human life, is crucial for their well-being. Observing the images of both children and adults gathered around the water source reflects the happiness and contentment they experience.

Hang Tau Kindergarten
June 6, 2023 – Let’s delve into the school’s locale, aesthetics, color scheme, and purpose, and you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the newly inaugurated institution known as “Hang Tau Preschool.” This remarkable facility comprises two classrooms, an administrative office, a well-equipped kitchen, restrooms, and an inviting playground adorned with various play structures.
Nestled amidst the verdant hills of Dien Bien Phu, the school’s location was thoughtfully chosen. For the residents living in these challenging mountainous terrains, encountering such a spacious, exquisitely designed, and vibrantly colored educational haven is an exceedingly rare occurrence. It’s evident that the young students attending this institution brim with joy and gratitude. They express their heartfelt thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Tran Bao Ngoc, the benevolent sponsors, as well as the VNHELP organization that played a pivotal role in turning this dream into a tangible reality.

In February 2023, Mr. PVT from California visited three schools built by VNHelp a couple years ago in Tu Nang commune, Yen Chau district, Son La province. He wrote in his letter to VNHelp:
“The most memorable thing about this trip was that we were able to meet with the teachers and the local people. Everyone repeatedly told me that the students love their new school so much that they look forward to going to school everyday and they even want to have classes on Sundays. They are very proud that their schools are, in every respect, better and more beautiful than other schools built by the government. Not only that, the schools keep students cool in the summer and warm in the winter.”

On the second day of Year of the Cat, VNHelp representative in Vietnam visited the four orphanages we support and handed out lucky money in red envelops to 316 orphans. Each new year gift is 100,000 VND (nearly 5 USD). We also offered lucky money to the nannies, the elders and the managers at these places; each received up to one million VND. This is a lunar new year tradition which we are happy to keep every year; it brings big smiles to those disadvantaged children. Some sponsors also asked us to bring their new year gift to the child they sponsor. We would like to thank Yen&Khanh, Nam Phuong, and Kevin Le who are the main sponsors for this activity.
