VOCATIONAL TRAINING PROJECT IN YEN MO

Purpose
The Vocational Training project seeks to equip 30 Vietnamese orphans with embroidery and carpentry skills. With the collaboration of our partner in Vietnam, we want to place graduating students (15-18 yrs. old) in local companies in order for them to:  1) Have a stable income, 2) Can feel safe and secure about their basic needs, and 3) Become Self-Reliant.

Background Information
Our current Vocational Training project is located in Northern Vietnam, in Ninh Binh city, Yen Mo District. Yen Mo currently has about 116,000 residents, including 30,000 youths. In recent years, the people of Yen Mo have pushed for new innovative technological development, as well as better social programs in order to raise the living standard in their daily lives. Particularly, the community has focused on the safety and educational improvements for their children, especially orphaned youths.

Problem
Even with the willingness and commitment of the people of Yen Mo, many orphaned youths still face problems of finding decent work in order to become self-reliant. Our targeted group of youths faces an even greater challenge. Most are either orphaned with both parents, or abandoned by their family and now have to live in orphanages. Opportunities for work are scarce, and their future is at risk.

Solution
VNHelp has agreed to support a Vocational Training program that would train 30 orphaned youths in embroidery and carpentry skills over a six months period. In short, we plan to assist in: Hiring two instructors, Paying the facility rent to conduct classes, Purchasing instruction supplies, Paying general bills, Purchasing lunch for students.
